    THE BARRIER

You wanted to speak Mizo. Nothing showed you where to start.

That missing first step has a name: the language barrier. It is the villain of this story. You are not.

    WHAT STOOD IN THE WAY
    01
    No first lesson
Plenty of words to look up, and no obvious place to begin.
    02
    Nobody to explain it
You could copy a phrase without knowing what each part meant.
    03
    No clear next step
Even after a good start, there was nothing to tell you what to learn next.

    MY STORY

    The story of LearnMizo

Hi, I'm Floris, a Dutch serial entrepreneur and data engineer by trade.

In 2024 I came to Mizoram for the first time and was met with a warmth that is unmatched anywhere I have been. The people, the hills, and the language stayed with me long after I left.

But on my journey into the language, I quickly found out there isn't a lot out there. Barely any structured way for outsiders to start learning Mizo.

So I built this course to change that, and to make it a little easier for anyone curious about Mizo to take their first steps.

    GOOD TO KNOW

    Questions before you start

Something else on your mind? Ask us and a person will answer.

Do I need to know any Mizo already?

No. The first lesson, First Words and Greetings, starts with a greeting and assumes nothing. Curiosity is enough to begin.

Is the first lesson really free?

Yes. First Words and Greetings is free and takes about 15 minutes. No account needed to start.

    What does it cost?

Lesson 1 is free. Starter costs €6.95 and the Full Course costs €14.95. Both are one-time payments.

What's the difference between Starter and Full Course?

Starter unlocks the 8 Beginner lessons. Full Course unlocks all 12 lessons, including every future lesson. You can upgrade from Starter later for the €8.00 difference.

How long does a lesson take?

Lessons run from about 15 to 25 minutes, and you can stop and come back whenever you like.

Who writes and checks the lessons?

Floris writes the lessons, and every Mizo phrase is checked by native speakers before it reaches you.

Will I be fluent when I finish?

We won’t promise that. You will be able to greet people, ask simple questions and follow the answers, and each lesson adds a little more.

    Every word brings you closer.

Learn the language. Connect with the people.

First Words and Greetings is free and takes about 15 minutes.
